ADAM LAMBERT LIVE REVIEW OF HIGH DRAMA TOUR

Adam Lambert

Pop star Adam Lambert made his way to Israel as part of his High Drama Tour. The American singer started out as a solo artist before joining Queen as their lead vocalist. Having seen Queen + Adam Lambert on several occasions, I was excited to see how his shows are as a solo artist.

As lead singer of Queen + AL, I have seen Adam perform three times around Europe. He amazed me with his great onstage persona and the way he was delivering the songs. I knew some of his solo material, but I never dived too deep into it. That was till I noticed he annouced a one-off show, here in Israel.

ADAM LAMBERT

Adam Lambert came onstage in high platform boots, extravagant clothes and a mic stand that was bigger than the average man in the audience. His persona seemed ready and For Your Entertainment seemed to be the perfect starter. Followed up by The Original High.

Promoting his 5th studio album, High Drama, which is filled with covers that the singer reimagined amazingly, it wouldn’t come as a surprise that the show featured a lot of covers. This gave a great mixture between original songs and covers that included, Sex on Fire, Holding Out for a Hero and Do You Really Want to Hurt Me. An amazing rendition of Believe gave the audience a breather and goosebumps all across. A great vocal performance!

Obviously, it wouldn’t be an Adam Lambert show if it didn’t dive into his solo career as well, playing the big hit Whataya Want From Me and Ghost Town. For the encore Adam dove into his Queen + Adam Lambert repertoire, which gave some great memories seeing him with my dad back in 2016.

band

Adam Lambert delivered a flawless performance that didn’t wow, unfortunately. All the elements were there, great songs, vocals, outfits and a crowd that was willing. However, for some reason, it felt it missed an element. The enthusiasm and frontman I saw with Queen just a few years ago, didn’t really seem to shine tonight. The band itself also played great. However, it did feel that it was more of a mixture of studio musicians than full on live band energy. That said, it was still a great show!
