PAPAPAVLOU WINS BIKKEL MORIWAKI CHALLENGE UNDER WET CIRCUMSTANCES

The Greek rider Notis Papapavlou wins today’s race under wet and difficult circumstances. The Swiss Marcel Brenner finished second, just in front of Vasco van der Valk.

QUALIFYING

Even today, the schedule didn’t run as it was intended. Due to a long red flag situation during the World Superbike race, due to extreme heavy rainfall, the qualifying was shortened to 15 minutes en was eventually planned at 17:20.
The English rider Dan Jones crashed during qualifying in his first lap and had to start as 23rd. Sander Kroeze takes the pole and behind him there’s Matteo Novali, Papapavlou, Leon Czichos, Marcel Brenner, Sven Grevink, Sébastien Fraga, Robert Schotman, Kevin Orgis and at 10th position Vasco van der Valk.

RACE

Only one hour after qualifying, it was time to race. Everybody started with full wet tires, because the track was still wet. It has been a difficult race for the young riders. Sander Kroeze takes the lead after 1 lap racing, but later he crashed in the Strubben. It was possible for Sander to pick up the bike and proceed to the race, and he eventually finished as 12th. The Greek driver Notis Papapavlou keeps his head cool and was on his way for his first victory.
Matteo Novali was at that moment second, but he crashed also in the Strubben. Also, Dan Jones, Leon Czichos and Sebastian Fraga didn’t make it to the finish flag due to a crash. Marcel Brenner finished as second in front of Vasco van der Valk, who won the battle for third from Sven Grevink (4th) and wildcard rider Robert Schotman (5th).
Filip Salac came in 6th in front of Kevin Orgis, Lukas Tulovic, Tomas de Vries, Adolfo Delgado, Patrik Pullkinen, Sander Kroeze, Maté Laczko, Alberto Nicoletti and Philipp Freitag completed the top 15th. Ricardo Picciuto, Jarno Kausch, Marcelis Bezulksi and Jaron Nooren completed the final results.
