2024 | FEATURE ON RACESPORT.NL

Racesport feature blogpost

I love motorsport and photography. These passions came together back in 2014 when I was shooting the World Superbikes on a drenched TT Circuit in Assen, the Netherlands. It was a big honour to have a feature in the biggest Dutch motorsport website with one of the images I shot.

RACESPORT.NL

This Dutch motorsport website was the source for all my motorsport knowledge growing up. When I started my own website at the age of 13 about the World Superbikes, I considered this website as my big competitor. Let’s face it, I was never close to it, but a child can dream.

To this day, I keep visiting this website for my daily motorsport news fix. When I saw the chance to have my picture featured in their “Pic of the Week” category, I took the opportunity and submitted my chosen image and text.

Racesport.nl has a number of unique visitors per month of well above 200,000, and the site is visited over 20,000 times daily. During important motorsport events, even more than 50,000 road racing enthusiasts (per day) manage to find the website for the latest road racing news.

DANCING IN THE RAIN

The image I choose also featured on my blog as Dancing in the Rain. I absolutely love this shot and almost 10 years later I’m still super proud of it. A small text accompanied the Racesport.nl feature, which roughly translates to:

“Just before Race 2 of the World Superbikes in 2014, the weather took a turn for the worse. I was soaked to the bone and extremely cold. However, it didn’t stop me from heading back to the media center to warm up. I stayed in the GT corner and secured a good spot to photograph the riders battling in the rain. It was truly worth it, as I captured the photo I shared today. Thanks to the semi-transparent visors, you can even see the eyes of many riders. I love this photo. I’m super proud to have had the opportunity to capture these images so close to the actual circuit action. In this photo, Toni Ellias is followed by Leon Haslam, Davide Giugliano, and Marco Melandri.”
